After two days of a hunger strike, the men of the rich fishing grounds of Rías Baixas along the west Galicia coast were exhausted and emaciated but resolute. The leaders of three fishermen's guilds plan to continue their protest until they receive awritten commitment from the Deputy Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy that the government will put in place the resources needed to tackle the slick wreaking havoc along their coastline and damaging their livelihoods. Top of their list of demands are 15 kilometers of barriers to protect the area's estuaries, and the assistance of Spanish naval ships.
